The National Peer Mentoring Anti Bullying Pilot (2008-2010)

150 primary, secondary and special schools across England are part of the National Peer Mentoring Anti Bullying Pilot.

While many schools in England already have effective peer mentoring and anti-bullying programmes in place, the pilot aims to develop several models of peer mentoring as part of the Government's Anti-Bullying Strategy.

Through guidance, training, resources and support, the MBF (Mentoring and Befriending Foundation), who are managing the pilot, will help schools to set up and sustain effective peer mentoring programmes that specifically support anti-bullying strategies and that link with other initiatives such as SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) and the Healthy Schools Programme.

The pilot is a major, two-year, Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) funded project, which will establish a formal peer mentoring scheme that can be evaluated to assess the positive impact on pupils and schools. It is run by The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF) - the national strategic body for mentoring and befriending, offering support to practitioners and organisations throughout the sector.
